Paddle Round The Pier Launch Event!
On the 23rd November, Paddle Round the Pier 2018 was launched at the British Airways i360. Jon Orrell, as Chair of the Trustees, presented cheques to this year’s chosen charities: RNLI, The Wave Project and Brighton Surf Life Savers.
£10,000 was donated to each charity due to the success of this years event! Under the Paddle Crew’s great stewardship, over £300,000 has been raised for worthy charities over the years.
In 2018, the team plan on sending a message to start turning the tide of contamination and pollution of our seas and coastlines, by making a special effort at Paddle to spread the word. There may also be different attractions at the event in 2018. The team are hoping to have Christian Surfers delivering a ‘live’ Songs of Praise on the Sunday and there could also be a rather unique Guinness World Record Attempt, involving dogs!
HOP are currently planning to building a 7m Fijian war canoe to go paddling round the Pier during the weekend of 7th & 8th July 2018.
