Cavendish Primary School
This development required a new two-storey, two-form entry primary school, including the construction of car park and playground space. The new school was linked with the existing secondary school through connecting corridors at lower ground and ground floor level creating a new combined school.
BIM Modelling:
HOP produced a full structural BIM model, generating all general arrangement details and drawings using Autodesk Revit, enabling collaboration with the Design and Build Team and Contractor.
Structural Philosophy:
The two-storey superstructure was designed using a steel frame with precast concrete planks on the first floor, and lightweight metal decking forming the roof. Reinforced concrete retaining walls form the partial basement area with spread foundations under the remaining building. The cold rolled, metal roof deck and pre-cast concrete, hollow core planks were designed and detailed to act as diaphragms decks, transferring lateral loads back into the stability bracing systems.
