The Iron Bridge
The Grade I Listed, Iron Bridge first opened in 1781 and was the first ever bridge to be built from cast iron.
HOP undertook an underwater inspection of this World Heritage site to determine the arrangement of foundation strengthening measures installed in the 1970’s. Detailed records of below water elements had been lost.
Work included directing commercial divers to complete an underwater tactile and measured survey to identify and record the reinforced concrete work installed.
The commission was with Historic England and has assisted them managing the structure for future generations.
